Reset

Australia’s Byron Bay, or simply ‘Byron’ is famous for its beaches, cafesand idyllic lifestyle. Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, timeliterally slows down. After the year we’d had, it was the perfect place fora reset.

Our basecamp for the week was Coopers Shoot. Set in Byron’s hinterland,the house provides a chilled setting to relax and forge new friendshipsbut is within easy reach of key training locations.

Fresh Start

Following a year with little racing, our select 2XU crew took theopportunity to retune. Diverse in backgrounds and disciplines, not alltalk was focused on power numbers. Friendly banter flowed as all lookedforward to blowing out some cobwebs.

Ease In

A glorious sunrise ocean swim set up the week. A perfect morning toconnect to the environment with some ins and outs to open up the limbsand mind. The session can be summed up in one word: magic.

New Legs

Next up, a morning run. The team started gently enough before kicking into 10 x 1 min efforts at below 3min/km pace, shaking out any lethargy left in the legs.Running shoulder-to-shoulder and not giving an inch, it was good to feel that competitive buzz again.

Aim Big

The heat was oppressive, and on the asphalt, there is no escape.The rolling landscape ahead drew us in, but the hills were deceptively steep.Despite this, the team soaked up the opportunity to free-wheel outside.

Push

Boxing is hard and honest. Done properly, it’s a total body workout.Shorts jabs. Keep the feet moving. Sweat building. The clock never seemsto move. Combinations… arms start to burn. Left right, left right. Duckand weave. Form and focus.

Reflect

A late shakeout run and build with hills. The sky turns on a spectacularshow; a #reversesunrise as coined by Clint. The light provides a momentto reflect and simply enjoy. 2020 was a shocker. But the new yearpromises something brighter.

Recover

A game of pool quickly turns into friendly competition; Clint and Aaronseem dominant… until the final. Their record blemished, it is them whohave to endure the dunk in the pool. They complete the task like goodlosers, gracious in defeat.
